JULY 2010

RELEASE DATE NEWS:

THE HUMAN BATTLE TAKES A TURN:  The 'LONER' series continues in earnest with the release of Episode 5 'NIRI'. The hard work of all the Loner creative team has come to a strong point with this episode as we approach the half way point and see our characters begin much more of an emotional journey. The response has been very positive and there is a growing appetite for this series to which we use as inspiration to up our game with the small budget and man power we have available.

We are all proud to finally have the work put out and are aware of the limitations of our small crew in producing an eleven part series with 20 minute episodes, all for your enjoyment. Completion of Episodes 6 and 7 are underway and these two are going to be big, action packed and exciting. As well as being defining episodes for our characters and the tone of the show from herein out. The final touches of Guy Avern's superb music and John Pavlakos sound mixing are well underway on episode 6 and Robert James Wright is animating and rendering episode 7.

Episodes 6, & 7  introduce a new character who allows a deeper delve into the different aspects of the already established characters of the series. The series has always been character driven with the potential to display action and adventure in equal amounts. All being well and god the series will be complete by this summer. FINGERS CROSSED!

'LONER' has a mandate to be a new independently produced series that can be an exciting and well written show for all sci-fi, action and animation fans to enjoy and really get behind. The future for this show is to gain support and get backing to produce and distribute this show on a bigger scale than what it is now. This we strongly believe will happen with your support and our hard work. So this is where the journey begins with the monthly release of the CG series along with comics, soundtracks, flash games and much more...

With Episode 5 now being released it has been a working battle to get Episodes 6 and 7 scored and sound mixed in the space of a couple of months. It has been difficult, but the Loner story is beginning to take shape and it has become more clear as to what the mission for Loner and Darla Kay is. A new and major character is introduced in EP 6 called Martin and his involvement adds a dangerously new element of intrigue to the adventures of our put upon heroes. Episode 9 written by Colin Johnson is going through major re-writing and heralds the return of Sa'car and will showcase a more intellectual and ambitious side of his character than the one previously seen.

The website has received major add-ons and updates which feature and capture the multi-media attraction that LONER represents. Radio plays, Dan Avenell art explanations, Sa'car comic, new music video and new Loner tone poem are just a few of the attractions that have been produced. Much more will manifest before the unveiling of the next exciting episodes.

Among the other great editions to the website are soundtrack albums, making of webisodes of this new CG series and much more for you to get a full understanding of the background and future of this independent production.

In the space of a few months, LONER has proven itself to be a universal product that has gained a wide and diverse fanbase who are all experiencing storytelling in a new way. From China, Australia, America, Iran, Greece, Sweden, France, Japan; these are just a handful of countries that have already been hitting the LONER website and enjoying the adventure.

BIG THANKS TO THE FANBASE ON FACEBOOK AND TWITTER WHO HAVE SHOWN SUPPORT AND INTEREST IN THE SERIES.

We at THEWRITEPAGE hope you get onboard, join the adventure and support the 'LONER' series as this is a show made by the fans for the fans.

CREW NEWS:

The new title song called 'UNIVERSAL WAR' by SANDSTORM has been produced for the Loner series and a music video accompanies this exciting track. The response has been amazing as it seems having a rock element to the Loner soundtrack is what fans want. John Pavlakos, Loner series producer and sound mixer features on the track as well as working overtime to finish episode 5 for its release date and has already prepped for work on EP 6. Guy Avern continues to compose a soundtrack that layers the story with emotional beats and ideas, which garners a connection with the audience around our heroes and villains journey. Guy our resident maestro has also been working hard on EP 6 and 7 which is an epic two part episode as well as producing more original songs for the soundtrack album.

Robert James Wright, the creator, writer and director of 'LONER' has been working around the clock to finish the animating for EP 7 which is the second part of a 'to be continued' episode and features a new friend/villain to the series and marks a big confrontation on biblical proportions. Once again for one person to be making these episodes in CG without a crew has been time consuming and difficult, but with the belief and response to the project by the internet community, has kept the motivation alive. To see the LONER project come to life and become an entertainment source for many fans has been a major reward.

Tobias Silvester, a talented singer/songwriter who has been commissioned to write five exclusive songs for the 'LONER' series has finished his work on the project having spent months creating the theme songs that play over the full length of the series. The music is both heartfelt and exciting, bringing a depth to the show reminiscent of Bob Dylan and his work on the film 'Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid'. The musical writing of Tobias Silvester has added a layer to the 'LONER' series which is unmatched in storytelling and acts as a chorus and verse for the characters and the journey they all go on.

Colin Johnson has written new work for LONER in the shape of a radio play which centres on the Sa'car character and the final battle between the Loner brigade and Dravall horde. It has been an interesting journey in writing this special prequel episode and has thus far been well received before its official website release. Colin has of course been at the heart of the 'LONER' project since the writing phase and has been instrumental in not only helping to shape this world of 'LONER', but also to write two exceptional episodes. As creative consultant, the tone of the series is to walk the line of not following the typical dark world of war and suffering, but to explore the human ability to find hope, friendship and humour, even in the most trying of times. It is these values that Colin Johnson has helped cultivate along with Robert James Wright to bring a new vision of sci-fi to the long list of successful franchises.

Dan Avenell the talented artist of the Loner comics and well received official poster has kindly given some insight into the creation phase of his artwork which is available for all you young budding artists who have asked for this to be available. Dan is currently working on the second comic story which will deal with the villainous Sa'car and his early beginnings. So far the work has been breathtaking and some sneak peeks are available on the website now.

Not to forget, a big thanks to the entire cast who have worked extremely hard to bring the CG characters to life and although their work has finished on the project, their voices will live on and I can only hope I am able to work with them again. The Loner series is a testament to their skill, talent and most of all belief that this venture could be done. Most of them are at university or involved in exciting work prospects, so I wish them well and the very best.

LONER GETS MENTION ON SLICEOFSCIFI

"Loner" - A New Online Series

September 30, 2008 by Sam Sloan

Big thanks to sliceofscifi for their mention of the series which opened up new audience awareness of the series and pushes Loner further into the mindset of the very fanbase this show is made for. It looks like Loner is getting itself out into the big wide world.

The Loner site has only been up for a few weeks and already a healthy contingent of avid fans and interested parties have already ventured to know what this show is about and where the hell it came from. (I like to say the Loner series came literally out of the blue!).

Check back and remember- 'DEATH TO THE DRAVALL, SAVE THE WORLD!'
